Eligibility Criteria:
- • Adults (aged 19 and above)
- • Have the legal right to live and work in the UK
- • Must have Maths and English Level 2*
*We support candidates to meet this requirement by helping them achieve their Functional Skill Level 2 in Maths and English
Work Placement
There’s no work placement requirement for this course, but having experience in a hair, beauty or nail setting can give you a helpful head start.
Expected Activities
We also help you with some of the practicalities of social media, setting up your own business and general advice and guidance on how to get started and succeed in our industry
How long does it take?
You can usually achieve this qualification in less than a year, helping you take your next step into the Hair and Beauty industry sooner.
Course Cost & Advanced Learner Loan
You do not need to worry about upfront costs – our Hair, Beauty and Nails courses are funded via the Advanced Learner Loan.
You will only start repaying the loan once you have finished your course and are earning over the income threshold.

The Advanced Learner Loan is a government-backed loan available to individuals aged 19 and over to help cover the costs of eligible further education courses in England.

- • Promote Products and Services to Clients in the Salon – develops the skills required to up-sell and add value to Hairdressing Services

In this course, you will learn:
- • Facial skincare - to include cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage and the use of face masks
- • Eyelash and eyebrow treatments - to include brow shaping and lash and brow tinting
- • Manicure treatments - to include nail care, exfoliation, massage of the hand and lower arm and nail painting
- • Pedicure treatments - to include nail care, exfoliation, massage of the foot and lower leg and nail painting
- • Waxing - to include removal of hair using hot and cool wax methods
- • Body massage - to include consultation, identifying skin types, general body types, different types of fat and common postural faults and contraindications, selecting suitable massage mediums for the client’s skin type, classical massage movements and adapting the treatment to the client’s specific needs
- • Indian head massage - to include the use of techniques such as classical Indian Head Massage movements, massage mediums and adapting the treatment to the clients’ specific treatment needs
- • Microdermabrasion treatments - to include consultation, skin analysis, recognising contraindications and contra- actions, carrying out relevant tests prior to treatment and adapting the treatment to the client’s needs
- • Client care and communication - to include using effective consultation techniques, communicating and behaving in a professional manner, adapting methods of communication to suit the client’s needs, maintaining client confidentiality in line with legislation and using and adapting retail sales techniques
- • Monitoring health, safety and hygiene - contextualised to the environment the Learner will be working in

- • Care for the nails on the hand including hand massage and application of polish
- • Care for the nails on the feet including foot massage and application of polish
- • Apply and maintain nail enhancements - liquid and powder, gel and wraps
- • Design and apply nail art
- • Use of airbrushes in nail art design
