Wandsworth & Lambeth Adult Learning

MI Skills Development Centre works in partnership with Wandsworth Adult Lifelong Learning and Lambeth Adult Learning in delivering programmes to widen participation and to achieve strategic objectives for their wider communities. Hereby, supporting its residents to play a wider role in the boroughs’ local economy, as well as contributing to its Community Plan aim of promoting economic well-being whilst bridging the inequality gap.

MI Skills Development Centre’s provision is targeted at those new to learning, with no or low levels of qualifications and to those furthest from the job market, by providing training, soft skills and education opportunities.

We are currently delivering the following:

Non-Accredited and Accredited Courses to the Wider Community in Wandsworth and Lambeth.

These learning programmes are funded by the Greater London Authority (GLA), where appropriate, and quality assured by Wandsworth or Lambeth Councils’ Adult Learning Service.

Whether you have been out of work for a long time, are looking to improve your basic skills (English language, maths and/or IT), looking for a career change or to update your knowledge with one of our vocational courses, we can help you find the course for you.

Our highest priority is the focus on employment throughout your learning, giving you the tools and support to reach your career goals: whether that’s joining a new industry, returning to work or starting your career from scratch.

Eligibility

  • • You must be aged 19+ and living in the borough of Wandsworth or Lambeth
  • • You must have the right to live and work in the UK
  • • Refugees/Asylum Seekers are also eligible
  • • You must complete our Initial Assessment to access your skills
  • • You must complete Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) with MI

These courses are accredited and FREE* for:

  • • Those that are unemployed and in receipt of Benefits
  • • Or economically inactive
  • • Or earning less than or equal to £20,572.50 per annum (for residents living in Greater London)

Benefits

The Wandsworth and Lambeth community programme seeks to address the soft skills, training and employment challenges faced by its residents. At MI Skills Development Centre you will receive the advice and guidance you need to build on the skills you already have and help you take the right steps to find a job or further your training.
