Overview – Computer Engineering
The course prepares you to work in technical support job or as a helpdesk operator. You will learn about monitoring and maintaining the computer systems and the networks in an organisation. It will prepare you for a role providing technical support directly to staff and customers. 
You will learn about network planning and installation, installing and configuring computer systems & networks, and diagnosing and solving hardware and software faults. You will be taught by industry professionals who will support you through your course and onto the next stage of your career. 
Are you interested in getting into the IT Engineering industry? This programme prepares you for the industry as an IT technical support helpdesk or Developer with knowledge and skills in PC maintenance, upgrading, installing software and troubleshooting.

What you will need to get started:

  • • Completion of Initial Assessment and Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
  • • Basic computing knowledge
Qualifications you will receive upon completion:
  • • City and Guilds Level 2 Award in IT Users Systems Support
  • • City and Guilds Level 1 Award in IT User
What you will study:
  • • Dismantle, assemble, install and maintain a desktop computing system – Fundamentals of Computing
  • • Systems and Customer Care
  • • Improving Productivity Using IT – Using the Internet
  • • IT security for users – You’ll be able to identify parts of the computer system and know how to secure the computer system.
