GRADE: Expected Standard

Following Ofsted’s most recent inspection, we are happy to inform that our organisation has received a positive grade of Expected Standard and that all safeguarding standards are met.

With inspectors stating that we ensure our “learning environments are safe, inclusive and welcoming for learners,” and that we’ve “created a highly inclusive culture” by identifying learners’ needs accurately at every stage of their learning journey

In addition, Inspectors have acknowledged the positive relationship between staff and learners, as well as our ongoing dedication to supporting learners in achieving their goals and better opportunities.

What do Inspectors have to say about our leadership and staff?

Inspectors praised staff’s knowledge, expertise and learner focus.

Here are some of the comments from the Ofsted Inspectors:

“Leaders know their learners and their needs very well and make decisions that are in learners’ best interests.”

“Teachers have relevant vocational expertise and many still work in their industry. They use their expertise well to build learners’ understanding.”

“Staff teach their curriculum in a logical order to build learners’ knowledge and skills over time,” and “ensure that learners from disadvantaged groups, including the long-term unemployed, benefit from adaptations based on their needs.”

“Leaders work well with employers to ensure that learners with barriers to their education benefit from external work placements.”

What do learners say about their experience studying at MI?

According to Ofsted, learners were very positive about studying at MI with many claiming that their confidence and wellbeing have improved.

Here are some of the comments Inspectors have said about learners’ experience at MI:

“Learners describe the culture of the provider as an extended family in which they are very happy. Those on courses in English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) quickly make friends and improve their English.”

“Learners develop new knowledge, skills and behaviours which they can apply in vocational settings. (…) Because of their new knowledge and skills, learners are well prepared for their next steps.”

“Learners’ confidence and resilience at work and in their lives grow significantly as the result of what they learn on their courses.”

“Learners are very well motivated to achieve their goals and qualifications. They see great value in having improved employment prospects, growth in confidence and improvements to their health and wellbeing.”
