Saima Rahman: “Work experience boosted my confidence”

Saima Rahman

I did work experience over the summer holidays this year at MI Skills Development Centre Brixton Office. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and it boosted my confidence.

At the end of my work experience, I went on to do National Citizenship Service and my GCSE results also came out. I was overjoyed with the best results in our family’s history.

The Mayor of Enfield holds a recognition event every year at Oasis Academy in Enfield to celebrate, recognise and encourage the students with the top 120 GCSE results in the Borough. This year we were invited, as I was part of this group. I am very happy to share the photos from this event with you.

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to do work experience at MI Skills Development Centre. Not only did I gain experience in office administration and the workings of an educational institution, I also gained the confidence to travel using the public transport system from the north to the south of London. This has widened my world so that I have grown from being confident travelling within Enfield only, to being confident going anywhere in London. This has been significant in my journey from a schoolgirl to a young lady hoping to enter medical school.

Once again I would like to say a big thank you to yourself, Evelyn, Alex, Liane and all others who helped me during my work experience.
