ESOL Skills for Life and Work

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is for candidates whose first language is not English and they assess the four skills of Speaking, Writing, Listening and Reading. The topics and tasks covered are relevant to learners and are related to everyday work, study, community and social situations.
The qualifications on offer are from Entry Level 1 to Entry Level 3 with an introduction to various aspects of everyday life in the UK.

ESOL - Reading (Entry Level 1-3)

  • Duration: 8-10 Sessions
  • Hours:  9:30-3:30
  • Days-per-week: 1 - 2 days
  • Environment:  Classroom

What you will need to get started...
  • Aged 19 and above
  • English is not your first language
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Completion of Initial Assessment and Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)
Qualifications you will receive upon completion...

Depending on your level upon enrolment:

You will achieve either one of the following qualifications upon completion and achievement of Pearson Edexcel ESO (English for Speakers of Other Languages

  • Edexcel Reading Award Skills for Life Entry 1
  • Edexcel Reading Award Skills for Life Entry 2
  • Edexcel Reading Award Skills for Life Entry 3

Progression

Learners who have achieved an Award or Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life qualification can progress to the next level or progress to other needed provision e.g.

  • Functional Skills English units or may progress to GCSE English
  • Learners can use their learning and achievement to support their employment aims and progression in their chosen career
